Inspect the joints of the pavers for sand loss. If the sand is more than ¼ inch below the joint surface youll have to "re-sand" the pavers. To re-sand you must use paver sand. You can buy this in bags at Lowes and Home Depot or at a brick yard. Spread the sand our on the pavers and using a push broom sweep the sand back and forth at a 45 degree angle from the joint lines until the level is 1/4th to 1/8th of an inch to the top of the joint surface. After the pavers have been adjusted cleaned and re-sanded (and every time after re-sanding) you want to seal your pavers with a good quality sealer. Sealing your pavers will protect the pavers from most kind staining and it will harden the joint sand locking your pavers into place and preventing anthills and weeds from growing between pavers. A good quality sealer will prevent a haze from forming on the paver surface caused from moisture in the paver when sealing. If you currently see a haze on the surface of your pavers from previous sealing youll have to strip the existing sealer before applying new sealer.
Pavers add to the beauty of your landscape. A well maintained pavement reflects on the beauty of your house. Therefore it is essential that you maintain it well. Cleaning pavers would be easy once you know about pavers. Choosing wrong cleaning materials and faulty cleaning methods spoil the look of pavements. Therefore it is important that you learn about pavers before venturing into cleaning. Concrete or limestone is generally used in making pavers. Often bricks and natural stones are also used. You should ensure that pavers are sealed as soon as they are laid in your backyard driveways or patio. If you do not seal it stains and cracks on the surface of the pavers can damage your pavements soon.
A common question that we encounter is whether you can use a thin paver on top of base material. The answer is not absolute. In reality it depends on the circumstances of the project and the proficiency of the crew or individual installing the pavers in the first place. The one aspect of the project that must remain constant if considering the use of thin pavers over base is that the area to be paved must only be used as a pedestrian area that wont endure the weight of vehicular traffic. Using a thin paver on compacted base is typically frowned upon within the paver industry. They are normally used to remodel an existing concrete tile or acrylic surface.
Pool pavers are a popular material for creating decks and patios around the pool. The three primary materials that pavers come in are stone cement and brick. Stone pavers are a natural material so these pavers traditionally come in a rectangle shape. Since brick and cement pavers are manmade you can find pavers in different shapes that allow you to create the design or look you want. Square and rectangular pavers are the best choice for pool pavers because these pavers have smooth edges and textured surfaces. The shape of the paver affects the pattern you can create. A paver shaped like a zigzag for example can create an interlocking pattern. Square pavers on the other hand create a side-by-side pattern. Traditionally pool patterns include square and rectangular pavers to sit side-by-side but you can also turn the square and rectangular pavers at an angle to create a diamond pattern.
