Power wash brick paver areas using a 2700 psi power washer or greater. You may or may not need to use a paver cleaner during this process. Sweep joint sand into all the joints of the pavers and water down with a light spray from a garden hose. Sweep sand and water down a second time to ensure joints are full of joint sand. Once dry confirm joints are full with joint sand and move on to the next step. Having these joints completely filled and compacted will help maintain paver stability. Apply a joint stabilizing sealer on all the paver areas. The sealer hardens the sand which helps prevent water intrusion in the joints and insects digging through it! Follow the instructions of the manufacturer on how to apply sealer.
Whether its for a driveway a patio sitting area a walkway or pool decking concrete pavers should be considered as an alternative material choice in every landscape design. There are numerous reasons why they have captured such a huge part of the landscape flooring market and here we discuss what those benefits are that make them so popular. Concrete pavers have evolved over the years from being used in many commercial applications to simulate the look of bricks to now simulating the look of real stone. They color blends and textures have now allowed designers to use concrete pavers in applications that call for an economical alternative to using real stone materials.
After some research we found that permeable pavers were best for us. These pavers come in many different shapes textures sizes and colors. Permeable actually means that liquids can pass through it. Our rain water would be absorbed by the dirt under the driveway with little runoff water rushing down the street until it polluted local streams rivers and lakes. Pavers offer a visual appeal through color paver shape and size. Pavers can be color matched to your home. With the help of a professional landscape mason patterns can be created to add more visual appeal. Pavers are dense and offer durability. They can withstand 8000 pounds of pressure per square inch which is much greater than concrete. They have a non-skip non-slide surface.
Whats more the range of colours available makes it easy to customise and personalise your own landscaping turning boring pathways into features instead. Outdoor pavers suitable for use on driveways are usually a little thicker than those used for other purposes. These usually come in a thickness of 50mm which also makes them ideal for other commercial use. This is to help your driveway withstand the weight of cars or frequent foot traffic. Driveway pavers are often set to smaller dimensions of 300x300 or 400x400 as larger bricks than this may be more likely to crack under constant weight of cars. Keeping brick sizes smaller allows for more even distribution of weight across the area.
